Chair, ESFRI Health & Food Strategic Working Group (HFSWG), Professor, Dokuz Elylul University, Turkey

His research interests include applied brain biophysics, multidisciplinary studies in the cognitive science incorporating memory, sleep and pathological processes. He is the vice-rector in charge of Innovation and Research. He is member of a number of international organizations and the vice-chair of Asian Sleep Research Society. He is the R&D chair of International Sleep Science & Technology Association (ISSTA) and the associate editor of “Sleep and Biological Rhythms”. He has organized a number of international events of science policies such as Turkish Japanese Forum. He has organized numerous congress and workshops on Science Policies, Brain biophysics and Neuroscience areas.
He is the chair of Health &Food Strategy Working Group. He has organized number of ESFRI SWG and regional working group meetings.  He has formerly worked as ESFRI BMS TWG Vice-Chair. He has represented ESFRI in the field of Biomedical and Health Sciences at EU-US  and EU-Australia meetings. He has served as rapporteur or session chair at a number of ESFRI related meetings (ECRI etc.). He has worked as international expert or advisor of international Roadmaps.
He has organized a number of ESFRI events, including the “networking workshop between life sciences ESFRI Research Infrastructures and Joint Programming Initiatives”, Brussels 17&18 Oct 2013. This brought together as well as ESFRI HF RIs, a number of Commission Units and Directorates, Industry (i.e. IMI), Health and Food Domain key opinion leaders, FET, joint programming initiatives such as ERA-NETs and TFEU art 185 initiatives at a condensed workshop.
He has also contributed to Prioritization, “support for RIs”, landscape and gap analysis, implementation and a number of “science diplomacy” issues. He has represented ESFRI at European University Association- Doctoral Education Meetings, ORPHEUS meetings.
