The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute in Switzerland. It runs cutting-edge large-scale research facilities for users from the national and international scientific community, giving them the opportunity to carry out experiments that are not possible anywhere else. In 2016 a new large-scale facility will go into operation – the X-ray free-electron laser SwissFEL. As one of only five such facilities worldwide, it will provide new opportunities for cutting-edge research.
