Data and Information Coordinator, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Global Environment Facility (GEF) Agulhas and Somali Currents Large Marine Ecosystem (ASCLME) Project, South Africa
Lucy Scott is the regional Data and Science Coordinator for the UNDP GEF Agulhas & Somali Current Large Marine Ecosystems (ASCLME) Project. She currently coordinates regional information management activities and Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) development for the project in nine countries. Over the past eleven years, she has worked in South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Malawi, Comoros, Kenya, Seychelles, Mauritius, Maldives and Madagascar on a wide variety of projects and programmes. These ranged from marine research expeditions to data management projects and the development of Geographic Information Systems, particularly for biodiversity, coastal resource mapping, aquaculture and conservation planning in both freshwater and marine ecosystems. Lucy has participated in GIS atlas projects at several scales and is currently the regional coordinator of the ASCLME region for the African Marine Atlas, a project involving participants from 16 African, European and North American countries. She has published in several fields and is a member of the Steering Committees of the Southern African Data Centre for Oceanography and the International Coastal Atlas Network.
