Hiroshi Nagano is presently Lecturer at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo. After graduating from the faculties of Engineering and Law at Keio University, he joined the current Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and dealt mainly with science and technology-related policy issues. Prior to GRIPS, he headed up the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP) and then served as the Executive Director at the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). He still serves as Fellow at the Center for Research and Development Strategy (CRDS) of JST. His interests lie in science, technology and innovation policy formation, including encouraging young scientists and promoting cooperation beyond borders. He currently serves as Chair of the Global Science Forum (GSF) of the OECD.
